A leading light of the Morecambe RNLI has received an excellence award for his selfless work supporting the town's lifeboat service.
Colin Richardson, Morecambe hovercraft shop manager and boathouse manager, was presented with the Excellence in Volunteering Award from the Council of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Colin was given the award by Jo Partner, head of region (Wales, West and Isle of Man) at the RNLI.
"We were thrilled to celebrate a truly remarkable achievement with Colin, our dedicated hovercraft shop manager and boathouse manager, along with his family," said a Morecambe RNLI spokesperson.
"It was a memorable moment filled with joy and pride."
Jo Partner said: “It is with great pride that I stand here today to present the Colin with the Chief Executive Excellence Award.
"This honour recognises Colin's incredible dedication and countless hours of hard work in the shop, working alongside his wife Nora.
"Over his tenure, Colin has achieved remarkable success.
"Beyond his core role, Colin has consistently gone above and beyond by supporting the lifeboat station.
"His unwavering commitment ensures the smooth running of station with deliveries, contractors, reflecting his true value to our team.
"Today, we have the wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for Colin's outstanding contributions.
"It is a privilege to present him with this prestigious award, a token of our heartfelt thanks for his dedication to the RNLI and Morecambe Lifeboat Station and the operations manager as the boathouse manager.
"Thank you, Colin, for everything you've done—your impact is truly immeasurable."
The certificate, signed by Peter Sparkes, RNLI chief executive, said: "As shop manager, Colin's creative leadership has attracted new volunteers, enabling the shop to be open seven days a week, for evening events and as a pop-up elsewhere in the community. Colin's proactive approach has encouraged increased engagement on social media. His efforts have resulted in a rise in annual income to £100,000, an incredible achievement and a target set by Colin himself.
"Colin has continually displayed the RNLI values of selflessness, courage, dependability and trustworthiness. His contribution has helped the RNLI to save lives at sea."
