Firefighters were called out after an extractor fan caught fire at Arkholme Village Hall.
Fire engines from Hornby, Carnforth, Bolton-le-Sands and Kirkby Lonsdale were called to the incident at the village hall on Kirkby Lonsdale Road at 8.52am on Monday.
"On arrival the female toilets were heavily smoke logged," said a spokesperson for Carnforth Fire Station.
"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the toilets and broke a window to allow the smoke to vent.
"Firefighters took a hose reel, dry powder extinguisher and a thermal imaging camera with them.
"After smoke had cleared using two positive pressure fans it was found that the fire had self extinguished.
"An extractor fan had caught fire causing heavy thick smoke from plastic and electrics.
"Firefighters were in attendance for over an hour."
