Two arrests have been made after a man was bitten on the ear in Lancaster city centre - in an attack that left him needing surgery.
The serious assault occurred on the junction of Gage Street and Dalton Square, Lancaster at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, July 4.
Two males were travelling the wrong way down the one way system on an electric bike to the junction of Gage Street when they attacked a male walking up by the Pharmacy.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his ear during the incident.
"Two individuals tried to nip in before traffic to get down Gage Street," said Detective Inspector Adie Knowles, speaking on his regular Beyond the Beat feature on Beyond Radio.
"A member of the public has been coming up near the pub there, by the pharmacy, and he's told them 'what are you playing at?' and this has resulted in them attacking him.
"Sadly he had his ear bitten several times so he's had to have surgery for those injuries.
"We have made two arrests but I'm still appealing for witnesses."
Police are appealing for any motorists with dashcam footage that may have captured this incident.
