A popular DJ and pub boss from Morecambe has decided to step away from the licensed trade saying "people just can't afford to go out as much any more".
Matt Thistlethwaite, who was leaseholder at the Golden Ball at Snatchems, said "it's a difficult time for pubs and it's going to get harder".
Under the name DJ Matt Thiss, he is also known in the area as a dance music DJ and promoter.
Matt took over at the historic riverside pub in 2023.
Previously, he ran Harry's Bar on Marine Road Central in Morecambe with his brother Luke and sister Hannah.
"I've made the difficult decision to leave the hospitality industry," said Matt on Thursday.
"I've enjoyed some good times and met some amazing people and friends for life.
"It's a difficult time for pubs and I feel it's going to get harder.
"People just can't afford to go out as much any more.
"Personally I have a couple of things that I'm working on and will get to see my family a lot more.
"Thanks to all who have supported me, but that's me done with pubs."
Matt said the accommodation at the Golden Ball remains open and available to book online.
He said the pub's owners will be making a decision on its future in due course.
