Beautiful flower beds near the Eric Morecambe Statue have helped the town win a major award.
Morecambe Town Council has been awarded Silver in the Large Towns category of North West in Bloom 2025 following year one of its ‘Bloom Together’ initiative – a joint effort with Lancaster City Council to brighten the town one flowerbed at a time.
Judges visited several key sites, including the council’s HMS Shrimp boat-themed display near the Shrimp Roundabout, the Eric Morecambe beds, and the West End and Heysham North allotment site.
"We are delighted to have been awarded Silver on Morecambe’s first entry back into North West in Bloom," said Councillor Geoff Knight, chairperson of Morecambe Town Council’s Environment Committee.

"It is a credit to the hard work of all the residents and volunteers who got involved in our Bloom Together initiative, alongside staff from Morecambe Town and Lancaster City Councils, and this result gives us great motivation and optimism as we continue to grow the project over the next few years.
"We hope this will inspire many more people to get involved and help Morecambe go for gold in future!"
The judges' assessment considered community involvement, environmental responsibility, and horticultural quality.
Year Two of Bloom Together will see the two councils expand spring planting to approximately 30 additional flowerbeds across Morecambe, including those outside the town hall and within the War Memorial Gardens on the Promenade.
Plans also include installing new planters throughout the town to provide year-round colour and developing the recently adopted Morecambe Station beds into a second showstopper feature.
