The Quick Draw Radio Show

Phil “Quick Draw” McGrath is a presenter and volunteer broadcaster, best known for hosting the weekly show The Quick Draw Radio Show. His programme takes listeners on a musical journey through different eras, with a strong emphasis on the 1950s–70s, local culture and nostalgic gems.

Phil serves his community beyond the airwaves as well. He has worked with Citizens Advice in Lancaster, supporting families affected by cancer and assisting them in claiming entitled benefits.

In addition to his broadcasting and advisory work, he set himself what he called his “60 Before 60” Challenge: a bucket-list of 60 things to achieve before his 60th birthday in April 2025. He exceeded that target and continues his personal adventures with gusto.

Phil is also navigating a personal health journey, having been diagnosed with non-curative lung cancer after twice beating cancer previously. He has been open about his treatment (chemotherapy/immunotherapy) and has incorporated his resilience and positivity into his community work and broadcasting.

The Quick Draw Radio Show airs on Wednesday's with Phil curating “all things different” — deep cuts, local musical heritage, themed years, and vintage sound-tracks. The style is warm, nostalgic and locally rooted — Phil uses his platform not just to entertain but to connect with the community, reminisce and shine a light on the lesser-heard stories and songs.
