A festival bringing together 1980s goth and punk bands - held to celebrate the Summer Solstice - will be held at the Winter Gardens in Morecambe for the first time.
The event will be held on Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22 at the theatre on Marine Road and is organised by critically acclaimed record label Moochin' About.
Otherworlds will feature goth, post-punk, darkwave, space-rock, psych-pop/folk music and more.
Headliners Gene Love Jezebel will be celebrating their 1985 album Immigrant, to be played in full for the first time ever.
Jay Aston, Pete Rizzo, James Stevenson take a break from their UK tour to celebrate one of the most prominent albums of their career, which was produced by the legendary John Leckie (The Stone Roses 'The Stone Roses' and Radiohead 'The Bends').
Special guest for the Saturday is the mesmerising Lili Refrain, composer and performer based in Rome, Italy, who recently toured with Death Cult for their memorial '83-23' UK/Ireland Tour.
Lili uses electric guitar, vocals, percussions and synthesizers, overlapping them in real time through loop stations.
The atmosphere she evokes cover a wide swath of sonic territory that combines minimalist, folk, psychedelic, blues, metal, lyrical opera textures, without using any computer or pre-recorded tracks.
Her songs are embedded with ritualistic energies and her live performances are a visceral and cathartic experience that lead the listener through an unforgettable mesmerising ac
Added to Saturday's bill sees a return to the UK of Vision Video – fresh from their spectacular support slot with Manchester's finest, The Chameleons.
This saw their lead singer Dusty Gannon share the stage with his heroes, for a phenomenal rendition of Monkeyland, at The Albert Hall in Manchester.
Vision Video, a post-punk goth rock band from Athens, Georgia, injects modern malaise into classic sounds of the late 70s and 80s.
The band pays homage to classics like the afore mentioned Chameleons and The Cure, while also bringing a refreshing modern element to the genre.
Headlining on the Sunday is Jane Weaver, a leading figure in the UK’s experimental pop music landscape.
Her presence as a live performer has been requested by the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Guy Garvey (Meltdown), Laetitia Sadier, Richard Hawley, Josephine Foster and Gruff Rhys and she has flexed her knowledge in the DJ booth as a one-time member of Sean Rowley’s Guilty Pleasures DJ team.
Jane’s music has appeared in fashion campaigns for Chanel, Chloe and Mulberry plus a wide range of TV and Cinematic productions including the soundtrack to ‘Kiss Of The Damned’ directed by John Cassevetes’ daughter Xan, the award winning second series of ‘Killing Eve’ and new film 'The End We Start From' released in 2024.
The Orielles will perform on Sunday June 22.
The band mixes the dazzlingly bright disco-rock of Orange Juice with flyaway 90s indie and the thrillingly sinister freak-outs of mid-60s psych, garage and space rock.
Since forming in Halifax over a decade ago, The Orielles have journeyed from lo-fi DIY indie origins to inspired avant-pop. With new album Tableau, they created an experimental double album self-produced in collaboration with producer Joel Anthony Patchett. In doing so, the Orielles have utilised holistic jazz practices, oblique 21st century electronica, and experimental 1960s tape loop methods.
Other artists will include Louisa, The March Violets, Ghost Dance, Danse Society, The Rose of Avalanche and more.
