Wes McDonald leaves Morecambe and signs for Hartlepool

Winger Wes McDonald has left Morecambe Football Club by mutual consent, and joined League Two side, Hartlepool United.

McDonald joined the Shrimps on a two-year deal in the summer of 2021, under the reign of Stephen Robinson.

During his time in a Morecambe shirt, the 25-year-old featured 23 times last season, but hadn’t made a first team appearance since mid-January, and didn’t feature competitively at all under current boss, Derek Adams.

Previously, the forward scored 10 times in 81 appearances for Walsall in League Two.

A brief statement from the Club wished him all the best for the future, while Pools manager Paul Hartley said: ‘’Looking forward to working with Wes. He can go past people, create chances and strenghten our attacking line.

‘’He has vital experience with him recently playing in League One and we're excited to get him going".
