
Lancaster defeated Morecambe by 30 runs in a T20 local derby.
Lancaster scored 164 and Morecambe 134 in the Palace Shield T20 Cup game at Lune Road on Friday June 13.
Morecambe won the toss and elected to bowl first and made a great start as Lewis Smith (3-30) dismissed both of Lancaster openers inside the powerplay.
From then on though Lancaster dominated as Louw and Lord put on 90 for the third wicket before Lord was caught by wicketkeeper Ashton Ward for a well made 35.
Alex Briggs (2-39) had another in the over as he bowled Habibzay leaving the home side 112-4 with six overs left.
The boundaries kept on coming for the home side though as Louw (below) surpassed 50 and was dismissed in the final over for 59 which included four sixes. Lancaster setting a challenging total of 165 to win.
The run chase never got going for Morecambe as regular wickets fell throughout. Both openers were out inside the powerplay leaving Morecambe 31-2 off six overs.
David Rhoda hit a quick 25 but after he tried to produce a six down the ground just like the ball before he held out in the deep and was caught by Hayden Simm off the bowling of Ben Simm.
As Andy Creech was out LBW for 27, 2 overs later, only Ashton Ward made double figures from then on as the score of 73-3 became 117-9. 1
Seventeen runs came from the final wicket partnership as Ward was the last out as he top scored on 28.
Ben Simm (4-20) and Jack Lord (3-6) were the pick of the bowlers as Lancaster won by 30 runs bowling Morecambe out for 134.
