The Shrimps, who had conceded five goals in each of their last two fixtures, made three changes for the game, with Edwards and Ben Tollitt restored to the starting line up, as well as defender Maldini Kacurri after suspension, alongside a recalled Ludwig Francillette.
Morecambe tweaked their formation too, with Yann Songo’o moving into defensive midfield, and Jake Cain playing at left back.
The first chance of the game fell to the hosts after they won a free-kick in a dangerous area, but the direct effort was no problem for Archie Mair who got down well to save.
Moments later, Morecambe had the ball in the box once Jack Nolan had beaten his man but Elijah Dixon-Bonner headed over the bar.
The Shrimps went on the attack again soon after as Nolan took aim from long range but his strike was inches wide of the target.
Tamworth then forced Mair into tipping the ball over the bar from Tom Tonks's long throw-in.
Ben Tollitt who curled one just wide, and a Gwion Edwards effort was deflected behind for a corner, in a goalless first half for the Shrimps.
A competitive second half followed too, as Edwards saw an effort from distance gathered by home keeper Jas Singh, while at the other end a Tamworth effort from 20 yards curled inches wide of the far post.
In the 66th minute, Tamworth thought they has taken the lead with an overhead kick following a set piece, but the referee deemed there to be a foul in the build up and it was ruled out.
With 15 minutes left to go, Morecambe found the breakthrough on the counter attack.
Nolan found Gwion Edwards on the half way line, and the winger carried the ball forward and cut inside to make no mistake in slotting his effort past the goalkeeper from 15 yards.
The lead was short lived though, as the Lambs levelled five minutes later, as a left side corner was headed home by Kenedy Digie at the back post.
The Shrimps then had a great chance to snatch all three points deep into added time, as Jake Cain played the ball through to Ben Tollitt on the left hand side, but his effort went agonisingly wide of the far post.
Morecambe travel to Scunthorpe United in the National League on Tuesday.
