Lancaster City’s game with Rushall Olympic was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Dolly Blues’ home ground The Giant Axe had passed an 8.30am pitch inspection on Saturday morning but the game was abandoned 34 minutes in.

At that point in the match, City - third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division - were trailing 1-0 thanks to a powerful Carter Lycett effort in the 14th minute.

The game had been briefly paused 25 minutes in due to the bad weather but the officials opted to continue proceedings, however they would only last a further nine minutes.

The pitch was later deemed unplayable and the two sides were sent into their respective dressing rooms.

A date for the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course.

The Dolly Blues’ next game is away to fellow playoff-chasing Warrington Rylands, who occupy fourth.

Kick off at Gorsey Lane is at 3pm on Saturday, December 13.

In addition, Lancaster City Ladies’ top of the table clash with Penrith AFC Ladies, set to take place on Sunday (December 7) on Willow Lane was postponed, also due to a waterlogged pitch.
