Lancaster City will attempt to move on from the pain of being knocked out of the FA Trophy when they face Hyde United.

Lancaster lost 2-1 to Chester in the second round of the competition despite being deserving of so much more.

The Dollies boss Mark Fell told the club website on Saturday that he wasn’t “going to pretend that doesn’t hurt”.

City now have to turn their attention back to the Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign, and a trip to Project Solar Stadium to take on Hyde United on Tuesday.

Hyde United had a weekend off, having been knocked out of the FA Trophy in the third qualifying round. However, in the league, they are having a fantastic season, currently occupying second position.

They have only been beaten twice at home this season, both 1-0 defeats to Ashton United – City’s opponents on Saturday – and Matlock Town.

The Tigers’ top goalscorer, Jack Redshaw has nine goals and has played at a higher level than tier seven before. He was at Morecambe between 2012 and 2015, when they were in League Two.

Lancaster City have won their last two in the league, also away games, against Marske United and Whitby Town.

On Friday they announced the re-signing of forward Brad Carsley. He first played for the Dollies between 2018 and 2020 before leaving to join Charnock Richard.

He made a substitute appearance at the weekend versus Chester. Mark Fell said he has a minor injury problem that the club need to manage, so it is unknown whether he will start on Tuesday.

Hyde United v Lancaster City kicks off at the Project Solar Stadium on Tuesday evening at 7.45pm.
