INTERVIEW: Finding out about the sport of Korfball

Matthew Cooper from Lancaster Phoenix Korfball Club visited the Beyond Radio studio

We found out about the growing sport of Korfball when a Lancaster player visited The Saturday Sports Show on Beyond Radio.

Matthew Cooper from Lancaster Phoenix Korfball Club joined Alistair Fisher and Ross Chapman in the Beyond Radio studio on Saturday.

Matthew explained the rules of Korfball and how it differs from other sports, and how it's growing in popularity in the Lancaster area.

Korfball is a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. It is played by two teams of eight players with four female players and four male players in each team. The objective is to throw a ball into a netless basket that is mounted on a 3.5 m (11.5 feet) high pole.

LISTEN to Matthew Cooper talking to Alistair and Ross about Korfball.

If you would like to try a new sport, the Lancaster club trains on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm at Lancaster Royal Grammar School sports hall.

LISTEN to The Saturday Sports Show with Alistair Fisher and Ross Chapman for all your local sports news and interviews NOW WEEKLY on Beyond Radio - Saturdays starting at 9am.
