Defeat for Lancaster City in final home game of Northern Premier League season

Lancaster City suffered defeat in the final home League game of the season as Bamber Bridge's sharp eye for goal ensured the visitors took the spoils in a 4-1 victory.

There were chances at both ends but it was Brig, deadly on the counter who enjoyed Derby Day the most. It was the visitors who had the first go at goal, a goalmouth scramble from a corner but Dylan Thompson managed to clear the ball.

The first Lancaster chance came from a Sam Bailey free kick off the half way line, the target was Lewis Mansell but a botched clearance teed up Dylan Moonan for an opportunity at goal and his curling effort just clipped the net as it was agonisingly over.

This was quickly followed up with Christian Sloan looking to play in Mansell but his deflected cross almost snuck in the near post, but Charlie Casper was down to save.

Casper was called into action again shortly after, Charlie Cox and Dom Lawson with a one-two off a throw in and the Cross found Harrison Beeden and his header made Casper work once again.

The first warning of Bamber Bridge's counter attacking prowess was on 18 minutes as Michael Potts picked up the loose ball and drove forward and played in Robbie Cleary and his low shot was saved by Lewis Forshaw.

The opener came on 21 minutes. Dom Lawson played a neat pass to Brayden Shaw who played it back to Lawson and his chance was saved by Casper, the rebound fell to Liam Brockbank, who played the long ball to Cleary and all he had to do was play in Michael Potts and his first time effort found the net.

After scoring twice just 48 hours earlier Lewis Mansell was on the hunt again, his effort pushed away by the impressive Brig 'keeper. Another Mansell chance came just before the second goal, once again Casper saved the header, his quick throw out found Jack Baxter who played Cleary in once more, his low cross found Mark Cullen whose initial shot was saved by Forshaw, but he followed it up to tap home.

The third goal just a few minutes later saw Raf Cirino ride the challenge of Harrison Beeden and calmly square it to Ewan Bange for a cool finish.

The second half began brightly for the Dolly Blues and small shoots of a comeback. Bobby Bjork played the ball wide left to Charlie Cox and his cross found Dom Lawson on the back post to rifle home.

The comeback did not materialise as the half went on, with Bamber Bridge holding the Dolly Blue attack at arms length and them hammered home their advantage on 70 minutes. Robbie Cleary involved again playing Ewan Bange down the right and his cross found substitute Lewis Hey at the back post for a header

The final game of the season is away at Matlock Town on Saturday (April 26).
