Dave Chisnall is through to the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship.

The Morecambe man defeated Daryl Gurney 4-2 in the fourth round on Saturday afternoon at Alexandra Palace in London.

Chisnall edged a nervy first set by three legs to two, despite not hitting any of his trademark 180s.

But Dave suddenly burst into life in set two, producing a quality burst of darts including three maximums to come from two legs down. He then hit double 1 to win the set after an an astonishing series of misses from both men - Chizzy moving 2-0 ahead after 11 attempts at a finishing double.

The number 11 seed continued to dominate Gurney on the scoring in the third set. But the Northern Irishman stuck around and pinched the set 3-2 with a spectacular 130 finish, to reduce the overall arrears. Gurney then continued to ride the wave of momentum, levelling the match at two sets all by taking out a brilliant 151.

But Dave rediscovered his touch in the fifth set, romping it 3-0 including a sublime two-double top finish. And he polished off the number 27 seed. breaking the throw with a double 13 then held his nerve to win the set 3-1 and with it, a tense and competitive last 16 match.

Chisnall will now play either Luke Humphries or Joe Cullen in the quarter finals on New Year's Day.
