Chisnall defeated in quarter final stages of Masters darts

Morecambe’s Dave Chisnall’s Cazoo Masters campaign came to an end after defeat in the quarter final stage in Milton Keynes.

After a trouncing of Martin Schindler 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the televised event, Chizzy, two-time Masters runner-up, withstood a late rally from world number seven Danny Noppert to seal his progression to the last eight.

Chisnall, who averaged 109.3 in his opening round demolition of Martin Schindler, recovered from 4-2 down to deny Noppert, clinching seven of the next nine legs on his way to a 10-8 victory, to set up an encounter with former World Champion, Michael Van Gerwen.

The Dutchman overcame Chisnall, averaging 102 and converting ten of his 16 attempts at doubles, to win 10-4.

Van Gerwen was beaten by Stephen Bunting in the final, with Chisnall’s close friend going on to lift his first PDC TV title.
