History was made as a live orchestra performed at Lancaster Castle for the very first time.
A sold-out audience of 600 people packed into the castle courtyard on Saturday night to enjoy an open-air Last Night of the Proms performance from the Blackpool Symphony Orchestra.
The 20-piece orchestra, conducted by Helen Harrison, performed rousing pieces of music including all the patriotic favourites 'Jerusalem', 'Rule Britannia' and 'Pomp and Circumstance', as the audience waved red, white and blue flags.
Here is a clip from the concert.
Feedback was extremely positive, with many people praising the event on the Beyond Radio Facebook page.
Frances Whitaker wrote: "So uplifting! Atmospheric venue...wonderful orchestra, fabulous soloist and a conductor with a sense of humour, perfect recipe for fun."
Nicola Thompson wrote: "Absolutely brilliant night - big thanks to all involved."
A statement from Blackpool Symphony Orchestra said: "Wow! Epic doesn't even begin to describe it. What a setting.
"We can say with a good degree of certainty that we've been the only orchestra to play in Lancaster Castle in its entire 800 year history. A fantastic audience of the good people of Lancaster and lovely weather made for a perfect evening."
The concert was held to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and the centenary of the orchestra.
