VIDEO and PHOTOS: Hundreds splash about in Morecambe Bay at 'busiest ever' promenade Dip

More than 250 people took part in an annual splash about in Morecambe Bay to raise money for a Lancaster hospice.

A total of more than £4,300 has been raised so far from the Boxing Day Dip organised by St John's Hospice to raise money for their services across the region.

Lisa Morgan from the hospice said that 254 people signed up to either paddle or swim in the chilly waters of Morecambe Bay on Monday lunchtime.

With huge crowds of spectators also turning up to watch and cheer on the participants, the annual event certainly looked the busiest ever.

Many of the dippers were in fancy dress with costumes including snowmen, Father and Mother Christmases, Pikachu from Pokemon, penguins and even two men dressed as toddlers!

Morecambe Sailing Club and Morecambe RNLI supported the event, which was held near the lifeboat station on the prom.

Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert provided announcements.

Here are some photos and video from the event.
