North Lancashire commuters have been facing travel chaos today after a lorry fire on the M6 earlier this morning.
The incident has caused ongoing major congestion on the motorway and surrounding routes, with motorists and public transport badly affected.
There has only been one lane (of four) open on the M6 south between J32 (Preston) and J31a (Ribbleton), due to a complex recovery operation taking place.
There is a two hour delay on the M6 between J33 (Lancaster south) and J31a, according to National Highways - North West.
Beyond Radio listener Alex tells us that traffic is stationary on the M6 southbound between the Tickled Trout and Forton Services.
This is also affecting bus services on the Preston-Morecambe route which are subject to long delays and cancellations.
A second incident in the afternoon had compounded the travel misery.
The M6 has been blocked in both directions between junctions 32 and 33 due to an incident involving a pedestrian on the carriageway.
