People from across the county gathered in Lancaster for the third Lancashire Climate Action Forum.
Held at the University of Cumbria’s Bowerham campus, the forum brought together residents, community groups and organisations to share practical solutions and build new partnerships to tackle climate issues.
The event showcased the breadth of work already happening across the county, from grassroots neighbourhood projects to large-scale partnerships.
“The forum was a great reminder of how much positive work is already happening across Lancashire to respond to the Climate Emergency at a local level," said Councillor Sam Riches, Lancaster City Council’s Cabinet member for Climate Action
"People care deeply about their communities and are finding practical ways to make a difference.
“By creating time and space to come together, we can support one another to develop solutions to the challenges of climate change and help that good work to grow.”
One of the highlights of the day was a key-note speech from leading climate expert Mike Berners-Lee, author and Professor in Practice at Lancaster University, who put Lancashire’s work into a broader context with a positive message about the potential that communities have to shift the dial on this vital topic.

"The University of Cumbria was founded to serve people and place through partnership, the critical themes explored in today's forum," said Claire Aindow, Pro Vice Chancellor-Growth and Development at the University of Cumbria.
“Without collective action, we risk further climate catastrophe and it has been wonderful to witness the energy of people coming together to share their insights, intelligence and aspirations for positive commitments to change.
“As a Lancaster resident and supporter of nature, it has been my pleasure to be part of such a constructive day.”
Attendees also took part in interactive breakout sessions, offering space to exchange ideas, showcase projects and explore opportunities for collaboration and wider impact.
The forum was co-hosted by the University of Cumbria and Lancaster City Council.
