A teenage table tennis star from Morecambe has won medals playing for England against the best young players from Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.

Bethany Ellis won the silver medal in the under 16s Individual Championships at the Senior Schools International event held in Largs, Scotland.

Bethany, a Year 10 pupil at Morecambe Bay Academy, also won bronze in the team event.

England dominated the Senior Schools International, returning with a haul of team and individual medals – including two podium clean sweeps in the individual Under-14 events.

The three-day event featured boys’ and girls’ competitions in three age groups.

Bethany's older brother Toby Ellis is an England table tennis international, and younger brother Tom is also a promising player who played at National Cadet League under 15 level at the age of seven.
