There are severe delays on the M6 southbound between Kendal and the Broughton interchange.
The M6 southbound is currently experiencing long delays between J36 (Kendal) and J32 (M55) in Lancashire.
This is due to increased holiday traffic approaching the planned lane closures between J33 (Lancaster) and J32 (M55). There are only two narrow lanes open and speed restrictions are also in place.
More information regarding the planned works can be found here:
https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/north-west/north-west-maintenance-schemes/
There is currently around 20 miles of slow moving traffic heading back towards J36. This is causing delays of 90 mins above normal travel time.
Road users intending on using the M6 southbound in this area are encouraged to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and to consider having refreshments with you in your vehicle.
If possible please consider delaying your journey until traffic volumes have reduced.
Further information is available from National Highways by visiting our www.trafficengland.com website and travel apps, or via our regional twitter feed. A 24/7 contact centre team is also available to provide up to the minute information on 0300 123 5000.
