A popular crabbing pool on Morecambe Promenade has been closed for essential work.
Lancaster City Council has started work to remove a build-up of sand from Bare crab pool.
Temporary fencing has been put up to restrict access to the pool while this work is going on over the next couple of weeks.
A Lancaster City Council spokesperson said: "The sluice gate on the pool will be opened to allow the sand to naturally wash out with the tides and any excess sand will be removed from the pool and deposited on the beach.
"This work is taking place now to take advantage of the high spring tide that will occur on the 22nd to 26th July, which will re-fill the pool after the works have been completed."
The Marine Road East pool is popular with families for catching crabs and sailing model boats.

A similar clean-up job on the pool took place last summer.
