Police have moved to reassure Bowerham residents after suspicious activity was reported in the area.
They had received calls about males seemingly taking photos of residents properties and vehicles.
After making enquiries, it’s now been confirmed that they are from United Utilities, and are legitimately taking photos of the water meter covers on the pavements and house numbers, as they are to be upgraded in the near future.
The males are wearing hi viz tabards with the United Utilities logo on the front and "Fixing Leaks" written on the back.
A spokesperson said: ‘’(We) have spoken with them and their head office and can confirm there is nothing to worry about.’'
