Police have issued a security warning after cars were taken after keys were stolen during two house burglaries in Lancaster.
‘Hanoi’ offences are where a vehicle is taken during a house burglary, often done with the explicit purpose of obtaining car keys. It is named after the first police operation targeting the method.
Two such burglaries occurred over the weekend, both with offenders gaining entry through insecure windows.
The first occurred on Sunday (July 9), at an address on Torrisholme Rd, Lancaster, whereby a vehicle was stolen,which has now been recovered.
The second burglary occurred on Longlands Rd the same day, where a silver Ford Fiesta with the registration HJ03WWG was stolen.
The car has not yet been located.
