The team at an indoor swimming pool in Carnforth are pressing ahead with plans to create a cafe and community hub.
Carnforth Community Swimming Pool aims to submit a planning application within the next couple of months, said the deputy town mayor of Carnforth.
Councillor Jim Grisenthwaite - who is also a trustee of the pool - said: "The extension - when built - will provide a fully accessible first floor viewing gallery and cafe together with extra changing and storage space at ground floor level.
"It will be tangible proof of the great strides taken by the trustees to improve the pool and its facilities since they took over its operation from Lancashire County Council in 2018."
The trustees and pool staff are in the process of identifying likely sources of funding.
David Morris, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, recently visited Carnforth Community Swimming Pool to hear about the plans and has since sent a letter of support for a proposal to create a cafe and community hub.
