A new skatepark will be built in Heysham, after plans were approved.
The new facility will be built at Douglas Park, on the site of a disused multi-use games area and will include a variety of low to medium concrete ramps and street-style features suitable for skateboarding, BMX, scootering, and roller skating.
A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: ‘’Approval of the plans follows recognition that there is currently a lack of facilities for teenagers in Heysham and following a local consultation where residents highlighted a need for more youth-focused recreation spaces.
‘’The new skatepark will replace the underused area, improve opportunities for sport and recreation for young people to both spend time with friends and help support active and healthier lifestyles.
‘’Local residents will be informed of when works are due to get underway.’’
