PHOTOS: Vehicle working on Morecambe beach gets stuck at high tide

The vehicle is stuck after being surrounded by the incoming tide on Friday morning.

A vehicle working on the beach at Morecambe has become stuck in the Bay after being surrounded by the oncoming tide.

The vehicle has had to be winched out after becoming surrounded by water while work was taking place on the beach near Thornton Road on Friday morning.

An eye-witness told Beyond Radio that the workmen "got lucky as it was a low high tide".

A Lancaster City Council spokesperson said the contractor's vehicle became stuck while carrying out works to "re-profile the beach".

This involved spreading the pebbles so they don’t come over the wall on to the Promenade and cause a hazard to cyclists and pedestrians.

The photos below show the vehicle becoming surrounded by water.
