A new festival in Morecambe celebrating maritime music, heritage and culture is being planned to raise money for the lifeboat service.
The Morecambe Maritime Festival is due to take place on Saturday August 24 at various venues in the town.
The event will include performances by sea song and shanty groups.
The festival will be headed by Morecambe sea shanty singer John Metcalfe and will raise funds for the RNLI in this, its 200th anniversary year.
Mr Metcalfe has organised charity maritime singing festivals raising money for the Morecambe RNLI for the last four years.
He said the event will also include local heritage, cultural, wildlife and environmental community groups running activities.
Mr Metcalfe is in the process of creating a Morecambe Maritime Festival Community Interest Company, prior to seeking funding for the festival, and is actively looking for volunteers to join the festival team.
If you would like to help you can contact John via the Morecambe Maritime Festival Facebook page.
