The Post Office branch in Morecambe town centre is to remain open in its current location, bosses have confirmed.
The Victoria Street branch will be operated by a new franchise, set to begin later this year.
The new franchisee is based in Bolton and will be responsible for a number of Post Office branches across the country.
An official statement from the Post Office, released earlier this week said: ‘’The branch will soon be operated by an independent franchise retail partner, ZCO Ltd (ZCO), from the current premises, offering the same wide range of services, and extended opening on Tuesday mornings.
"We are finalising our plans, and we anticipate this change will happen by September 2025.
"We are confident this will create a long-term, sustainable future for post offices in communities across the UK including Morecambe branch,” the Post Office statement continued.
“We will display posters in the branch to inform customers and provide a further update in branch to confirm the date of this change.”
More than 99% of the Post Office network is already operated via a franchise system and run by carefully selected retail partners, and there were concerns that Morecambe could be among a selection of branches that might be closed completely or moved to new premises.

Last month it was announced that full Post Office services would remain in Morecambe but not necessarily in the current location, as the company looked to offload the remaining 108 ‘crown branches’ it directly owns.
It meant although Morecambe would retain a Post Office branch, it could have been in a different location, up to one mile away.
About 1,000 staff working in the 108 branches nationwide will be offered a choice to move to work for any new owner or take voluntary redundancy.
