A Morecambe pub is in contention for a prestigious award entered by hundreds of pubs from across the nation.
The William Mitchell has been shortlisted for the Great British Pub Awards and will take on other pubs from Essex, Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Merseyside and Sussex in its bid to take home the trophy.
The Westgate pub is a finalist in the 'Best Punch Pub' category at the annual ceremony, which takes place on September 19 at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.
"This news still puts a smile on our faces," said a spokesperson for the William Mitchell.
"We are super excited to have made it to the finals of the Great British Pub Awards 2023 in the Best Punch Pub Category!
"Let's hope we can bring home the trophy!
"You are all amazing, we have such a great team and winning this award would prove that."
The other contenders in the Best Punch Pub category are The Ferry - Wallasey, Merseyside; Shakespeare - Hull, Yorkshire; Wickstead Arms - Nantwich, North West; The Ship - Grays, Essex; Bulls Head - Countesthorpe, Leicestershire; The Plough - Prestbury, Macclesfield; The Dog House - London; and Anglesey Arms - Chichester, West Sussex.
Other pubs from across the country will compete in other categories including Best City/Urban Pub, Best Country/Rural Pub, Best Pub for Entertainment and Best Pub for Families.
The Bellflower at Garstang has been shortlisted in the Best Pub for Dogs and Best Pub Garden categories.
The awards are organised by pub trade publication The Morning Advertiser and have been running for two decades.
The William Mitchell, named after the founder of Mitchell's Brewery in Lancaster, was built in the 1960s on Glentworth Road West. National chain Punch Pubs bought the premises from Mitchell's in 2019.
