Morecambe Kite Festival set to take flight

Kites will fly over the Promenade at Morecambe Kite Festival

Kites great and small will fly high at Morecambe Kite Festival.

The event will be held on Sunday July 20 from 11am to 4pm.

Head to Morecambe South Beach (between the Midland and the West End) and at the bottom of the Stone Jetty for:

Spectacular kite-flying, guide dog demonstrations, tasty food from Morecambe Bay Chowder and Crust + Co, refreshments, good music provided by Beyond Radio and Galloways Choir for the Blind, creative workshops including kite-making and sand art, fun and games, face-painting, Peaceful Yoga and more!

This event is free to attend and designed with inclusivity in mind.

The kite festival is organised by Morecambe Town Council.

Previously Morecambe's kite festival, known as Catch the Wind, was organised by More Music for many years.

The 'Catch the Wind' festival, which celebrated its 20th birthday in 2023, traditionally pulled thousands to the Promenade, to fly kites, spectate and enjoy music and other activities.

But More Music, the community music charity based in the West End, announced last year that due to the "arts funding climate" it could no longer go ahead.
