Morecambe Football Club has confirmed that all staff wages for April have now been paid in full.
A brief statement from the club says: ‘’Following receipt of funds from Bond Group, the Club can confirm that all wages have been paid in full for the month of April.
‘’We thank our staff, players, supporters and the wider community for their support and patience at this time.’’
All Morecambe staff, including the playing squad, are due to be paid on the 28th of the month, and with that day falling on a Sunday, it was expected wages would be paid on Friday (April 26).
In a statement on Friday evening, the club stated the owner, despite repeatedly assuring the club that funding would be provided to cover wages, the money hadn’t arrived.
A much changed Morecambe team then travelled to Swindon Town on Saturday, drawing 3-3 in the Shrimps’ final game of the season.
Morecambe remain under a transfer embargo imposed by the English Football League (EFL) due to a matter regarding a VAT payment due to HMRC.
The Shrimps were also deducted three points from their league total earlier this month after the conditions of an ‘Agreed Decision’ were breached following another incident of non- payment of wages in March 2023.
