Morecambe fairground forced to close due to damage in high winds

Taylor's Funfairs have set up on the central Promenade site in Morecambe

A popular fairground in Morecambe was forced to close today after stormy weather caused damage to rides.

Taylor's Funfairs said their 'Mega Funland on the Bay' on Morecambe's central Promenade would be closed on Wednesday for repairs.

In a post on their Facebook page, Taylor's said: "Unfortunately we will not be open today due to last night's storm causing damage to some of the rides.

"We are working on site to rectify and hope to be back open tomorrow (Thursday)."

The popular fairground is located on the land earmarked for the planned new Eden Project Morecambe attraction, formerly home to The Dome venue, Bubbles indoor swimming centre and the outdoor Super Swimming Stadium.

The Taylor's Funfair is due to be open there until September.

The travelling funfair company has been active in the North West for more than 100 years.
