An open-water swimming group has raised funds for life-saving equipment for a local school and for a Lancaster hospice.
Around 50 swimmers representing the M.A.L.L.O.W.S (Morecambe and Lancaster Lancashire Open Water Swimmers) took part in a sponsored indoor swim to raise funds for St John's Hospice and to buy equipment for the Bay Leadership Academy pool.
The aim was to raise £1000, which was achieved in just under a week.
The event was organised by the M.A.L.L.O.W.S founder Jon Gibirdi.
It was their second event this year for the same charity. Around £1400 was raised in February.
Participants collectively swam 3001 lengths at 25 metres which is 75025 metres, which equates to just under 47 miles, in two hours - just under five miles more than the distance of the two shortest crossings of the English Channel.
One of the members, Moira, raised funds by allowing her to be thrown fully clothed into the pool near the deep end at half time.
M.A.L.L.O.W.S. meet all year round and take part in sea, river and lake swims. The group thanked the lifeguards on the night.
Donations will be accepted for a few more days on the JustGiving page HERE where £1450 has been raised at time of going to press.
