Minute's silence after death of former Conservative leader on Lancaster City Council

Peter Williamson

A minute's silence has been held in memory of a former leader of the Conservatives on Lancaster City Council.

Peter Williamson was a Lancaster city councillor for Upper Lune Valley from 2007 to 2019, and led the Conservative group on the council for eight years.

Mr Williamson died suddenly on February 25.

Paying tribute to him at a council meeting on Wednesday evening, deputy mayor Councillor Hamish Mills said: "Our thoughts are with his wife, County Councillor Phillippa Williamson, and the rest of his family."

Councillors then observed a minute's silence before the Lancaster City Council meeting, held at Morecambe Town Hall.
