Meet the Bolton-le-Sands Strongman aiming to break a world record this weekend

Josh Lancaster will aim to beat the Strongman world record of lifting the heaviest weight using only one arm this weekend.

Josh, from Bolton-le-Sands, is competing at the Strongman Competition in Preston, and will be attempting a single arm dumbbell world record lift of around 15 and a half stone this Sunday as part of England’s Strongest Man u80kg.

He already holds the current title of ‘England’s Strongest Man u90kg’ after coming first in the England’s Strongest Man u90kg competition last year.

The current world record is 96.2kg.

In November he finished 17th at World’s Strongest Man u80kg in Daytona, Florida, and just last month came in the top 10 at ‘England’s Strongest Man u105kg’ in Doncaster, competing against others 20kg heavier.

Josh has also set up a sponsorship for people to donate to help Ukrainian refugees, as part of his attempt, being inspired to fundraise after his in-laws took in two people from the country.

He’s hoping to raise more than £1,000, and you can donate here

Good luck, Josh!
