A major fire has broken out on the White Lund Industrial Estate in Morecambe with residents reporting being woken up by loud bangs.
Several local people posting on social media shared photos of smoke billowing above the White Lund area and one said they'd heard "massive explosions" on Sunday evening.
The fire involved a number of lorries in a yard on Mellishaw Lane.
"At 22:11 on the 13th September 2026, four fire engines from Lancaster, Morecambe and Bolton-le-Sands, along with the aerial ladder platform from Morecambe, attended a fire involving several large vehicles at Mellishaw Lane, Heaton-with-Oxcliffe," said a Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
"Crews used two foam jets, three main line jets, lighting and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
"Crews were in attendance for approximately seven hours."
A Lancaster Fire Station spokesperson said: "Upon arrival in the area it was clear that there was a significant fire within White Lund industrial estate.
"It was quickly established that this involved a number of lorries within a yard on the industrial estate.
"Lancaster Area Police also attended and assisted us by closing some roads in the area which have since reopened.
"One fire engine remained at the incident overnight and a fire investigation is now in progress."
A Lancaster Area Police spokesperson said: "At 10:10pm on Sunday 13th September we were called to reports of an explosion on Southgate White Lund Industrial Estate in Morecambe.
"Emergency services attended to find a fire at the location, this has now been put out, and fortunately no one was injured.
"A scene is currently in place and an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.

VP Pet Hydrotherapy and Health Centre Morecambe, based on Mellishaw Lane, posted on its Facebook page: "Major fire next to our store.
"All Tales & Scales residents are safe. Hopefully the blaze will be under control soon. Thank you for all the messages."
