A driver has been arrested after being caught behind the wheel more than three times over the drink drive limit in Morecambe.
The 41-year-old man was tested after his vehicle was stopped at the roadside on Baycliffe Crescent last week.
He blew a reading of 125 micrograms per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Overall, 56 people were arrested in the second week of Operation Limit, making 121 in total since the campaign aiming to prevent drug and drink-related casualties across the Christmas period launched at the beginning of the month.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ‘’Christmas time should be about joy, not danger. Sadly, some drivers are still making reckless choices.
‘’Over the weekend alone, we made three arrests in connection with collisions which resulted in serious injuries in some parts of the county.’’
‘’Of the 56 people arrested this week, these included a cleaner, a medical professional, a caterer, construction workers and students, to name just a few professions.
‘’Our officers work tirelessly year round to keep Lancashire’s roads safe, but Christmas brings extra challenges as traffic increases and celebrations lead to greater risks.
‘’The message is simple, if you’ve been drinking or taking drugs, don’t drive.’’
