Man arrested after animal welfare warrant executed at Lancaster address

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences following the execution of an animal welfare warrant at an address in Lancaster.

Police were responding to reports of a violent dog attack in the Marsh area of the city last week, and the Rural Task Force, Lancaster Neighbourhood Team, the Student Development Unit and the local council Dog Wardens have since been working together on an investigation.

Yesterday morning, officers executed an Animal Welfare Act Warrant at a local address.

One male was arrested on suspicion of drug offences, vehicle theft, having a dog dangerously out of control, possession of an offensive weapon and animal cruelty offences.

A spokesperson said: ‘’We are aware of the effect this incident has had on the local community and encourage people to report these incidents to us so that we can take positive action.’’
