Here is a round-up of how people across North Lancashire are helping those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and how you can get involved.

Lancaster City Council held a meeting last week to gauge support and set up a community plan.
Anyone who wishes to offer ideas or to know more detail can get in touch via communityconnectors@lancaster.gov.uk for meeting notes, details of organisations and for the fund information once it is set up.

Torrisholme Community Primary School is collecting donations.
A spokesperson said: ‘’It’s impossible to imagine how the people of Ukraine are feeling right now, but we would like to try to help by sharing what we can with those who need it the most.
‘’We are collecting donations which will be delivered to refugees of women, children and babies at the Polish borders via TippyToes BabyBank.
''A huge thank you to our amazingly caring school community for all the contributions that have flooded into school this week. We are absolutely overwhelmed.
'The collection we are feeding into has now been extended into next week and a driver is picking up from school next Thursday.
''Therefore, if anyone would like to make further contributions, we will continue to collect until Wednesday 9th March.
Required are: Baby blankets, warm fleece blankets for children/women, warm socks (all ages), new baby bottles, baby comforters, hat, scarf and glove sets (baby, children, women), sanitary wear, bandages, baby food pouches, baby/children’s toiletries, towels/flannels, baby milk (powdered) and nappies (especially sizes 5, 5+, 6, 6+)
Donations can also be delivered to Carnforth Caravans, 14D Keer Park, Warton Road, LA5 9FG.
Items are needed to go into welcome packages for refugees arriving from Ukraine into Poland.
The most needed products are dry food, nappies, toiletries and paper towels, blankets and sleeping bags, candles, batteries and first aid kits.
The Canal Turn, Carnforth, has acting as an emergency drop off point for local people who wish to help the Ukrainian refugees fleeing their homes.
Two HGVs full of donations have been sent to help with the Ukraine relief effort from the pub.
Last week the pub launched a collection appeal working with Carnforth Caravans to send items to Ukraine, with the venue inundated with items, so much so that help was needed to transport them all from the pub to the two HGVs that headed off the Polish/Ukrainian border.

Donations can also be dropped off at The New Melbourne in Lancaster.
This is a collection for the children and mothers of Ukraine, and they are looking for baby food, baby slings, colouring books, crayons, baby milk warm blankets (not quilts). Again these will sent on to families taking in refugees in Poland.

Five local women – Slawka, Ania, Agata, Zofia and Agnieszka – are planning to climb Snowden wearing high heels to raise money for the cause.
They said: ‘’We felt that we needed to do something to support Ukraine's citizens. Therefore, after a quick discussion, we have decided to climb Snowdon on Sunday 6th March, and to make it a bit more challenging, we felt that we could aim to reach the top of Snowdon in heels!!! Sounds crazy, we know, but why not!
‘’We feel that we need to do something, even something small, to support people who are affected by this conflict.
‘’All the proceeds from this fundraising will go to the SOS Ukraine fundraising organised by the Polish Humanitarian Action, a Polish-based registered charity that will provide humanitarian assistance to displaced Ukraine citizens.''
Kim Parry is collecting for the children of Ukraine.
She says: ‘’As a mum I know the importance of toys and how the seemingly unimportant items like small craft sets colouring books, crayons, baby toys and fidget toys can be over looked in times of crisis but are so important to the children as a form if escapism.
‘’So I am collecting to make packs up to be handed out to the Ukrainian children.
‘’So far I have enough items to put together 48 packs as well as extra teddies and blankets but with the thousands of people crossing, more donations are very much welcomed!’’
Drop off can either be arranged by contacting Kim on 07702069711 or there is a drop off point at St Luke’s Slyne-With-Hest Primary School.
Tom Dutton will be travelling from Morecambe to Medyka on the Polish-Ukrainian border on March 15 with a friend and fellow ex-forces veteran.
They are looking to take a 15-seater minibus to provide aid.
