LISTEN: Singing author from Lancaster releases new book about positive ageing

Rosie Ross with her new book

A Lancaster musician hopes her new book about ageing positively will inspire others to make a change.

Rosie Ross has released 'Rosie's Back Home! Positive Ageing for a Restless Spirit'.

Rosie, who writes and performs her own blues songs, wrote the book after deciding to travel around the world after reaching the age of 65.

It's about a life-changing decision to examine her situation with painful honesty, reduce her 'encumbrances' and do something new; and she hopes it invites discussion and disagreement, in the hope that readers will find their own ways forward.

The book gives a full and frank description of the thoughts, feelings and actions that led her to a happier and more peaceful state of mind.

Rosie, who is also a member of the Lancaster Singers choir, popped into the Beyond Radio studio to talk about the book and play some songs.

She also spoke about her experience appearing as a contestant on popular TV quiz show The Chase this year, and her work as a volunteer for the Olive Branch foodbank in Lancaster.
