LISTEN: Detective inspector makes public appeal to find missing Morecambe man

Carl Joy

A detective inspector investigating the disappearance of a man from Morecambe has made a public appeal on Beyond Radio to help find him.

Detective Inspector Adie Knowles has made a renewed appeal for help to find Carl Joy, who was last seen in Morecambe on Friday afternoon, August 23.

Mr Joy, 62, from Morecambe, was last seen on Lord Street at the junction of Rose Street, riding his bike heading away from the Promenade.

Det Insp Knowles said police believe he was either heading in the direction of Morecambe Police Station or down Rose Street.

Mr Joy is described as a white male, 5ft10, with short shaven greying hair, with tattoos on both arms like scrolls, and may have been wearing a multi-coloured tweed cap with a blue zip-up jacket with rolled-up hood at the back, riding a Carrera greyish-coloured hybrid bike (pictured below).

"We've got a team of officers making enquiries trying to find him on CCTV," said Det Insp Knowles (below), speaking on his regular 'Beyond the Beat' show on Tuesday night on Beyond Radio.

"My request is if anyone has seen Carl, knows him, or seen anyone by that description in and around that area, or seen him since, please get in touch with us.

"I'm particularly interested if anyone drove down Lord Street or Rose Street or past Morecambe Police Station around that specific time, around 12.30pm to 2pm that day, and if do have dash-cam that was on, please get in touch with us."

Det Insp Knowles said they'd already had "a lot of information coming in" during the investigation.

Mr Joy has links to Lancaster and Yorkshire, and police are also considering the possibility that he may have travelled to Cumbria.

These additional images of Carl and his bike were released by police on August 28.
