Landlords across the Lancaster district are being invited to attend a special forum to hear important updates on the forthcoming Renters’ Rights Act and new requirements around waste and recycling.
Organised by Lancaster City Council and taking place at Morecambe Town Hall on Monday January 19 from 6pm-8pm, the event will bring together council officers, private landlords, and property managers for an evening of presentations, discussion, and practical guidance.
Several external speakers will join council officers to outline key changes landlords need to be aware of ahead of the national legislative updates coming into force in 2026.
Councillor Caroline Jackson, leader of Lancaster City Council, said: “Landlords play a vital role in providing safe, well managed homes across our district, and we want to support them as new national legislation comes into force.
‘’The Landlords’ Forum is a great opportunity to understand upcoming changes, ask questions, and get practical guidance from our officers and external experts.”
The first half of the event will include an overview of the new Renters’ Rights Act, what it will mean for landlords, and how to prepare for the changes.
The city council’s Waste and Recycling Team will also be on hand to provide a short talk on landlord responsibilities relating to waste management in line with forthcoming Government waste changes, including the introduction of food waste collections and changes to collections from March 31.
The second hour of the event will be dedicated to informal conversations, allowing landlords to speak directly with council officers from a range of teams. To register for a place visit www.lancaster.gov.uk/landlords-forum
