The railway line between Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness has reopened after being closed due to flooding after Storm Bert.

Services were due to be cancelled until Friday after the flooding near Ulverston, but were running again on Tuesday after Network Rail teams cleared more than 240 tonnes of debris from the line.

Trains were moving at 20mph compared to the usual 40mph, and Network Rail said a permanent repair would be carried out as soon as possible.

Storm Bert brought heavy rain, wind and snow to the UK over the weekend, leading to at least five deaths.

More than 100 flood warnings were still in place across England and Wales on Tuesday.
