A Lancaster man has been sent back to prison after reoffending soon after his release from jail.
James Dobson, 23 years old, of no fixed abode, Lancaster has been jailed for five months after being found guilty of two thefts from shops, one of using threatening behaviour and one of breaching his sex offenders register notification requirements.
He appeared earlier this week at Lancashire Magistrates Court.
The court heard that Dobson was only released from prison at the beginning of the month, and soon after committed two thefts from shops within the city and on one of those occasions had made threats to assault a shopkeeper.
Dobson also failed to keep in contact with the police in relation to his sex offenders register notification requirements.
PC Smith from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: ‘’We have a zero tolerance to shoplifting and abuse towards retail workers.
‘’We are working tirelessly through Operation Vulture to target these individuals and there unacceptable behaviour. I asked the courts to issue Dobson with a Criminal Behaviour Order alongside his imprisonment due to Dobson’s continued risk to the community.
‘’The courts agreed and have issued the order valid for three years, prohibiting Dobson from entering any shop within the centre of Lancaster and not to enter any Spar, Aldi or B&M in the whole of Lancashire.
‘’This will go some way to minimise Dobson's offending behaviour once he is released from prison.’’
