Lancaster cyclist rides 550 miles on annual journey to raise thousands for good causes

A cyclist from Lancaster has taken on another gruelling journey in her quest to raise funds for good causes from a cross-country ride each year.

Gillian Sheath completed a 550 mile cycle from Lancaster Cathedral to Lincoln and back to raise money for Air Ambulances UK.

Last year, the retired occupational therapist cycled 500 miles from Lancaster Castle to Cardiff Castle and back, raising more than £3,100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Prior to that, she cycled solo to Lands End and raised £2,800 for the Alzheimer’s Society, then pedalled solo to Beach Head in Sussex in aid of The Samaritans, again raising £2,800.

This year she chose to support Air Ambulances UK who help support the UK's air ambulances to save lives daily.

So far Gillian has raised almost £2,400 through her fundraising page.

She said on this year's cycle she "survived a dog bite, an exploding tyre and a puncture and met such kind people".

Gillian's fundraising page can be found here.
