Crowds at the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch On matched last year's record figures, it has been announced.
Organisers Lancaster BID said the footfall at the time of the switchon, 5.15pm on Sunday, was as high as it was in 2022 when the event saw record numbers.
They also said overall footfall in Lancaster city centre on the day, was up by 4 per cent on last year's figures.
Crowds teemed into Market Square and Market Street down to Horseshoe Corner to watch Sunday's programme of free live entertainment, hosted by Beyond Radio.
“With Lancaster On Ice also launching at the weekend, there is certainly a strong festive feel throughout Lancaster city centre," said Tony Johnson, Lancaster BID manager.
"It’s wonderful to see so many people choosing to stay local and loving Lancaster this Christmas."
This year's Switch On was headlined by Toploader, famed for hits including 'Dancing in the Moonlight'. (Image below by Ginny Koppenhol).

At switch on time in 2022, footfall in the city centre was 69.8 per cent higher than in 2021 and 14 per cent higher than the previous best year in 2015.
Lancaster BID's programme of festive fun continues on Sunday December 3 when Santa and the Cairngorm Reindeer will be visiting St Nic’s Arcades.
Families are invited to hunt down 12 reindeer hiding in windows of businesses throughout the city centre to be in with a chance of winning a £100 prize.
