The cycle path connecting Lancaster and Morecambe is set to see safety measures after a successful funding bid.
Lancaster City Council has been granted almost £20,000 towards making Greenway cycle path safer, with a number of measures being considered.
The news comes as investigations continue into a number of incidents in the area in recent months.
On April 5th, a woman in her 70s suffered serious head injuries in an assault on the cycle track, close to Ovangle Road.
A 32-year-old man from Heysham was arrested and has been bailed in connection with the incident.
Earlier in the year, a woman in her 50s also suffered serious head injuries that left her in a coma.
"A change must happen,” said Luke. “And that change has to be better lighting and CCTV cameras to make people feel safe walking on their own down that route.”
