Joe died last month at the age of 72.
During his playing career Joe was a midfielder, being an apprentice at Blackpool, and then a reserve player at Morecambe Football Club between 1973-76, making six first team appearances.
He went on to play for both Lancaster City and Barrow and also became coach at both of these clubs and manager of Workington.
Joining the coaching staff at Barrow Joe left after Brian Kidd took his first steps in management by taking control there and brought his own staff in.
Joe was appointed as manager of Morecambe Football Club in early 1985 and had three very successful seasons, with the club reaching the Lancashire (ATS) Junior Cup final three times, winning it twice.
He resigned at the end of the 1987-88 season to join Colne Dynamoes as full-time coach.
